Dr Mathew Keegan is a highly trained Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Advanced Interventional Endoscopist with expertise in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and biliary disorders.He provides comprehensive care across all areas of gastroenterology, with particular expertise in colonoscopy, gastroscopy, advanced polyp removal (EMR/ESD), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s oesophagus, small bowel disorders and pancreaticobiliary disease. He has a strong interest in bowel cancer screening and surveillance, supporting early detection and prevention strategies.Dr Keegan completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales and undertook advanced gastroenterology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St George Hospital. He subsequently completed international subspecialty fellowships in advanced endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease and pancreatobiliary medicine in Australia, the United Kingdom and France.A founding member of the Northern Beaches Hospital multidisciplinary cancer team, Dr Keegan works closely with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and other specialists to provide coordinated, patient-centred care. His research interests include artificial intelligence in endoscopy, improving diagnostic accuracy and advancing minimally invasive therapeutic procedures.Known for his thorough, compassionate and evidence-based approach, Dr Keegan is committed to delivering high-quality care tailored to each patient's individual needs.
